What can you move for students?
Whatever fits in a student room: boxes, suitcases, a bike, a desk chair, a TV, a beanbag. If you've bought or sold furniture for a shared house, we can move that too. Desks or bed frames that won't fit through a door in one piece are taken apart and put back together at the other end.
Moving to school or university can feel like a reality show. We do the heavy lifting, so you can get on with the fun part of starting your new chapter.
Which areas do you cover for student moves?
We're based in Fishburn, near Sedgefield, so Durham and Teesside are on our doorstep. We also move students to and from universities further afield, anywhere on the UK mainland, whether it's the first move away from home or the trip back at the end of the year.
Do I need a big van?
Usually not. Most student moves fit in one of our small or medium vans, which is all a room's worth of belongings needs. If a whole shared house is moving at once, we can send a bigger van and a larger crew, or split the job into runs. Sharing with a housemate who's heading the same way? Give us both addresses and ask about doing it in one trip.
How do I get ready for moving day?
Pack into boxes or strong bags rather than leaving things loose, and mark anything fragile. Check with your halls or landlord when you're allowed to move in or out and where a van can stop. Halls often give set arrival times, so tell us yours when you book and we'll plan around it.
Keep your keys, ID, laptop and anything you'll need that night with you rather than in the van.
What about moving out at the end of the year?
End-of-tenancy moves are often tight for time, because keys have to go back on a set day. Book your slot once you know the date, have everything packed before we arrive, and leave anything that belongs to the landlord where it is. If you'd rather store things over the summer than take them home, ask us about storage between moves.
Are student moves insured?
Yes. Every move, however small, is fully insured from the moment we pick something up to the moment we put it down. In the rare event that something is damaged, our insurance covers it and we'll sort it out quickly and fairly.
Can a parent book the move?
Yes. Anyone can book. Just give us both addresses, the date, and a phone number for whoever will meet us on the day.
How far ahead should I book, and what does it cost?
Same-day and next-day moves are often possible, but the start and end of term can get busy, so book as early as you can once you know your dates. We quote every move on what's going and how far, and the price we agree is the price you pay, with no hidden fees.
