How does a long-distance move work?
We plan it the same way as a local move, with more attention to timing. Your belongings are wrapped and strapped for a long journey, loaded so nothing shifts, and driven by the crew who packed them. There's no handing over to another company halfway: the people who load are the people who unload.
Because the crew travels with your things, they already know what's fragile, what's been taken apart and which room it's going to.
Where in the UK do you go?
Anywhere on the UK mainland. Whether you're heading up to Scotland, down to Devon, or moving back to the North East from somewhere in between, it's the same service from the same family-run team based near Sedgefield.
How long does a long-distance move take?
It depends on the distance and the size of the move. Shorter trips can sometimes be loaded and delivered on the same day. Longer journeys and bigger homes may need two days. We'll agree the timing when we quote, so you know when to expect us at the other end.
What if my new home isn't ready yet?
Completion dates move. If there's a gap between moving out and moving in, ask about storage: we can store your furniture between moves on request and deliver it when you're ready. One customer had furniture taken out for building work, kept in storage and brought back again, and called it smooth from start to end.
Do I need to be there at both ends?
Not always. As long as we have clear instructions and access at both addresses, we can carry out the move without you on site. On a long move, that means you can travel at your own pace and meet us at the new house, or have someone hand over the keys for you.
Can you relocate a business?
Yes. Shops, offices and business units can be moved anywhere on the UK mainland in the same way, with evening and weekend moves available and unwanted furniture or waste taken away before you go.
How should I prepare for a long move?
Book as early as you can: at least 2 to 5 days ahead, and more if you already know your date. Check parking and access at both addresses, including any permits or loading restrictions where you're moving to.
Keep valuables, documents, medication and chargers with you rather than in the van, and pack a box of things you'll want on the first night: kettle, mugs, bedding and a few tools.
What if something gets damaged?
We treat your belongings as if they were our own. Every move is fully insured, and in the rare event of damage, our insurance covers it and we'll sort it out quickly and fairly.
How is a long-distance move priced?
We quote every relocation on what's going, the distance, the access at both ends and how many movers it needs. The price we agree is the price you pay, with no hidden fees. If you need storage between moves, tell us at the start and we'll include it in the quote.
